From the point of view of the objectives and scope of the assessment:
- Absolute assessment – Allows to determine whether the project is cost-effective and should be implemented.
- Relative assessment – Involve comparing and ranking multiple projects before deciding on some of them.
Due to the timing of the assessment:
- Prospective evaluation – This takes place at the initial stage of project preparation.
- Retrospective assessment – Carried out after completion of the project.
From the standpoint of execution time:
- Short-term project assessment – For projects with a duration of less than one year
- Long-term project assessment – Requires more sophisticated methods of assessing the effectiveness, using dynamic methods.
